Christmas Place Settings Made Easy

We all want to have our homes radiating festive spirit for the holidays but we also want time to kick back and read all those Christmas novels… Here’s a very quick way to decorate your table for the holidays that you can throw together with just a quick trip to the craft store.

I prefer the formal look with a casual flair for my table and layering gets that across the easiest. I stick with solid dinnerware and let the layered accents speak for themselves. I bought a spool of ribbon, a trivet in the shape of a cut log (for the farmhouse feel), and a little bundle of greenery at the craft store. I always make sure to use wire-rimmed ribbon because I can shape it into any position I want. It makes tying bows so much easier! Here’s what I did:

  1. Bundle the greenery and wrap the stems with ribbon. (If the stems are long, just fold them in half and then wrap, securing the ribbon.

  2. Then I cut a second piece of ribbon and tied a bow around the greenery.

  3. I layered two solid plates, a Christmassy napkin, the trivet, and the greenery.

When your guests arrive, all they have to do is remove from the napkin up and their place setting is ready for dining and good cheer! With all the prep time you have to spare, you can pull out that Christmas novel!
